The Bay Island neighborhood is one of the last subdivisions located off of Great Neck Road, just before arriving at Shore Drive. Bay Island is roughly two miles in length and is bordered by Long Creek to its back side and Broad Bay to its front, making it a true island. The island actually has two neighborhoods. One being Broad Bay Island and the other being Bay Island, but the locals typically refer to the entire island neighborhood as Bay Island. Homes for sale on Bay Island range on average from the low 400’s to two million and above, with average sales prices being around the mid to high 700’s. Of the 200 plus homes built on the island, the majority were built in the 1950’s and 1960’s, with a large diversity as many newer homes have been built over the years. The island is small, but by boat, the waterways of Virginia Beach can expand the island atmosphere and entertainment choices are vast.
