»Macarthur Memorial

MacArthur Memorial comprises of four buildings in a beautifully landscaped MacArthur Square in downtown Norfolk, Virginia. The memorial’s theater contains several special exhibits galleries and continuously shows a twenty-four minute film on the life and times of General of the Army, Douglas MacArthur. General Douglas MacArthur is perhaps the most controversial and colorful man in American History. The Jean MacArthur Research Center (named after the General’s widow) houses the library, archives, education programs and the administration officers for the MacArthur Memorial and the General Douglas MacArthur Foundation. The gift shop displays General MacArthur’s 1050 Chrysler Imperial limousine which he used from 1950 to the end of this life.

»Norfolk Admirals

The Norfolk Admirals were founded in 2000-2001 and wear the colors red, black and white as their uniform color. Current NHL players who have been Norfolk Admirals include Chicago Blackhawks Mark Bell, Rene Bourque, Pavel Vorobiev, Tyler Arnason, Duncan Keith, Michal Barinka, Brent Seabrook, and Craig Anderson. Players elsewhere in the league who played in Norfolk include Vern Fiddler (Nashville Predators), Aaron Downey (St. Louis Blues), Nathan Perrott (Dallas Stars), Kyle Calder (Philadelphia Flyers) and Michael Leighton (Anaheim Ducks).

»Norfolk Tides

In 1969, the Tides became a Triple-A team when the New York Mets moved their International League franchise from Jacksonville, Florida to Portsmouth. The previous owners of the Tides continued to run the team under the Mets' ownership. Their first year in Triple-A ended with a pennant. At the same time, the Mets and the city of Norfolk cooperated to build the team's next home, Met Park.
