The Harrison Opera House is an intimate 1,632-seat theater and is the home to the Virginia Opera. It is a three-story grand lobby with a magnificent balcony lobby, floor to ceiling windows, superior acoustics and box seating on mezzanine and balcony levels that enhances the spectacular interior. »Norfolk Childrens Festival
The Virginia Children’s Festival offers more than 50 creative reading related workshops that are designed to demonstrate the importance of reading through the art of storytelling. Reading activities includes various genres of medium where children can learn that “READING IS FUN,” which is also the main theme during the festival. Plays and comedies targeted at children are held in places like the Old Dominion Education Department, The Norfolk Public Library and Southside Boys and Girls Club’s, and Seussville Book Nook, which is the latest addition to the festival.

»Norfolk Annual Events
At the end of every June, there is the Bayou Boogalou and Cajun Food Festival held in Norfolk every year. The town transforms into a New Orleans Bayou during this month. The southwestern cookout pays homage to good ol’ favorites like Southern Fried Chicken, Collard Greens, Jambalayas, deep fried crayfish and catfish, and caramelized sweet potatoes, as they would say, “It’s just like how Momma use to make it!”. Every June this food festival takes over Town Point Park and swarms of hungry event goers get to fill up on great food in an outdoorsy joint. Of course, no food event is going to be complete without entertainment.
