Ocean Breeze Amusement Park
Ocean Breeze Amusement Park
With the longest oceanfront beaches in the world, you'd think you wouldn't need a water park, but Virginia Beach has one of the best, so the entire family can play in the water! Located one and a half miles from the Oceanfront district, Virginia Beach Ocean Breeze Park features 16 waterslides; the Runaway Bay wave pool, with a million gallons of water, and Buccaneer Bay Children's Pool. When the little ones get hungry after a day in the waves, eat at the West Indies BBQ, followed by a stop at the Shipwreck Island Arcade.
The park is open daily from Memorial Day through Labor Day each summer. Events happen every day, including some special events, like the great American splash cookout, which marks the official opening of the pool for the summer every fourth of July, (even though the park opens on memorial day.) Every Monday during the season is story time, where the little ones can win prizes and play games. For the adults, there is Margarita Mix Wednesday, and the first week in September brings the Cardboard regatta and a chance to prove that you can build a seafaring boat--out of cardboard!
Junior lifeguard camp teaches water safety lessons, and the traditional annual reptile guy brings in reptiles from all over for an exhibition in late July. Saturday nights are reserved for the rock bands, so splash down to your favorite metal with your friends. This is a local's favorite. The list of events goes on and on, and Virginia Beach Ocean Park is a premiere tourist attraction for families visiting Virginia Beach, so make plans to stay awhile!
